26th Annual Law Enforcement Information Management (LEIM)
Training Conference and Exposition (Denver, Colorado)
May 20-24, 2002
Data Nexus, Inc. demonstrated its latest version of Polaris
Public Safety Software at the 26th Annual LEIM
Training Conference and Exposition this past week in Denver, Colorado.
Polaris is now available for a client server network configuration. This
new update will enable more Polaris users to share access to database
applications. Connections no longer must be hard-wired but instead can
be made by client users as needed. The network clients request information
or a service from a server and that server responds to the client by acting
on that request and returning results.
In addition to presenting our client/server networking for Polaris, we
also demonstrated the very latest in mobile solutions in the public safety
field. Our iPAQ Pocket PC gives officers a means to stay mobile while
also staying connected. This lightweight device fits in the palm of your
hand and can be easily attached to an officer's belt or jacket. Officers
can enter citations, maintain contacts, search the NCIC database, check
email, and run standard applications like Word and/or Excel.
Our wearable computer was also on display. This compact, full power,
wearable device is capable of handling all the functions that a full size
computer can do. An officer wearing this computer can be totally hands-free
while also having access to Polaris and the Internet. With an available
headset, a user can perform data entry verbally allowing for a hands-free
operation. Both of these devices when equipped with our Polaris software
prove to be an invaluable tool for today's law enforcement officer. Read
about our partnerships with HP/Compaq
and Xybernaut
for more information about the hardware being offered.
