Dr. Robert Scopatz Named 2nd Vice Chair of the Association
of Transportation Safety Information Professionals (ATSIP)
December 4, 2002
Data Nexus, Inc. is proud to announce that Dr. Robert A Scopatz has been
named the 2002-2003 2nd Vice Chair for the Association of Transportation
Safety Information Professionals (ATSIP).
The ATSIP, also known as the Traffic Records Committee, is a working
group of the National Safety Council Highway Traffic Safety Division.
The ATSIP exists to further the development and sharing of traffic records
system procedures, tools, and professionalism. As a member and officer,
Dr. Scopatz will be working towards achieving the organization's objectives,
which include: providing a forum on traffic records systems for state
and local traffic records systems managers; developing, improving, and
evaluating traffic records data systems in terms of standards, policies,
and applications; encouraging the use of improved techniques and innovative
procedures in the collection, storage, and uses of traffic records data;
and serving as a forum for the discussion of traffic records system programs
of the National Safety Council, Federal agencies, and other organizations
for the benefit of state, local, and international organizations.
The Executive Board is the administrative arm of the ATSIP. As 2nd Vice
Chair, Dr. Scopatz assumes the position of Program Chair for the 2003
Traffic Records Forum to be held in Denver, Colorado in August. As the
Assistant Program Chair for the 2002 Traffic Records Forum, Dr. Scopatz
gained invaluable experience and insight into what makes a successful
forum and what additional concepts attendees want to see in 2003.
Dr. Scopatz believes, "The Forum acts as an invaluable tool for
public safety professionals to share ideas, technologies, and innovations.
I am honored, as is Data Nexus, to ensure that the 2003 Forum proves to
be an invaluable resource for transportation safety professionals across
the US."
